Having said that if you follow the advice and just whang Eldritch Blast about FROM ELEVATION you will do fine. A longbow user with high Dexterity will be the easiest to play. A lot of spells are for non-combat purposes so will be red herrings for you. This is a lot of scrolling but you'll want to get your ability scores right or you'll want to restart:įighter or Ranger might be a better first run if you've never played D&D before. Due to Warlock casting being different than Wizard casting, I'd stick with some utility or self-defense spells personally, as you can cast your spells more frequently, but you know less of them and can use less of them in one go. really and truthfully, that's an area you're going to want to play around with yourself. Think of it as basically a pocket shotgun. Edritch Blast is indeed usually the main attack for a warlock, as it costs no resources and does quite a bit of damage, and can be used at range. You can also choose not to take anyone around at all, but I would not recommend it for a first-time player and especially not if it's your first time playing a DnD style game. Pick who you like or who fills gaps in your abilities (Warlock is a spell caster primarily for example, so you might want someone with high health to keep things away from you, a healer, and someone who can do physical damage such as a rogue). You can have up to 3, who all have different skills and abilities as well. Companion doesn't really matter one way or the other. Otherwise, knowing that your stats aren't maxed out immediately go High elf, and make use of some other skills. Do you want pure power? Drow or go for the other +Charisma races that are in, which is currently Half-Elf(Which can also be a high elf if you have your heart set on that) or Tiefling. So it kind of depends on what you want I suppose. Drow on the other hand gives you both Charisma and Dexterity. High elf does not give you a charisma bonus but will give you Dexterity which can make you a little harder to hit, and Intellegence, which is not directly used for Warlocks but can be useful for different skills.
